Jake is an award-winning photographer, communications consultant, and freelance writer based in the Pacific Northwest. His words and photos have appeared across Canadian media, in the Globe and Mail, the Narwhal, the Georgia Straight, the Tyee, the Ski Journal, Ski Canada, Canadian Rockies and Kootenay Mountain Culture, among many others. Jake wrote the news in British Columbia and is a former reporter at the Nelson Star and the Revelstoke Review, a former staff writer at the Revelstoke Mountaineer, and Associate Producer at CJLY 93.5fm. He also managed the public relations and media program at Shambhala Music Festival and spent three years working in content for the largest cat ski destination resort in the world, Baldface Lodge.
In graduate school Jake studied freedom of expression, alternative media, and the underground press in British Columbia. His research also explored conceptions of Jewish identity in post Holocaust Central and Eastern Europe. He received a full ride scholarship to attend the University of Victoria and taught in the faculty of History.
